Library makes the switch to biodegradable book covers

Our local libraries are now using 100% biodegradable book coverings for all new books.
In October, ERL Libraries made the switch – making them the first library service in Victoria and Australia to do so. Each year, the library purchases 30,000 new books for their collection.
These will now be covered in Bioguard 80®, a biodegradable, specially formulated film which can be composted or recycled without leaving any trace of microplastics. This provides a much more eco-friendly, sustainable solution, which will reduce the amount of plastic ending up in landfill.
So the next time you’re down at the library, you can enjoy a great new read – knowing that these new books are helping to pave the way for a brighter future.
